Staff Training

Our Staff Training programs deliver hands-on instruction in the safe and effective operation of fly systems, rigging procedures, shop tools, and emergency protocols. Each session is customized to your venue or production’s specific needs and tailored to the experience level of your staff. Training concludes with a customized handbook and a written test, providing you with reliable documentation of who is qualified to perform each task.

We train your team in the proper use of counterweight and motorized systems to ensure safe and consistent operation:

  • Operating Battens — safe handling and clear operating procedures for work calls and live productions

  • Loading & Unloading Counterweight — proper procedures for safely adjusting weight from loading galleries and securing linesets during weight transfer

  • Special Circumstances — managing heavy units over arbor capacity, splitting battens, and creating "dead hung" points

  • Stagehand Protocols — standard procedures for crew working during rigging calls

We equip your staff to work safely at heights and respond to incidents quickly and effectively:

  • Selecting Equipment — choosing the right fall protection gear

  • Harness Fit & Use — proper donning and inspection of fall arrest/prevention harnesses

  • Anchor Points — securing and inspecting fixed points

  • MEWP Protocols — safely operating scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, and boom lifts

  • Rescue Procedures — safely responding to suspended fall situations

We provide comprehensive instruction in the use of stationary and portable tools common to theatrical shops:

  • Stationary Tools — table saws, band saws, lathes, planers, jointers, CNC machines, and more

  • Portable Tools — jigsaws, circular saws, routers, pneumatic nailers and staplers, drills, impact drivers, sanders, and more

  • Shop Organization — efficient layout, setup, and workflow

  • Safety Protocols — standard practices for daily operations

We prepare staff to act quickly and effectively in a range of emergency situations:

  • Staff Roles & Communication — establishing responsibilities and clear communication channels

  • Patron Assistance & Evacuation — safely managing audience and crew during incidents

  • Fire Response — operating extinguishers and following venue-specific protocols

  • Critical Security Incidents — training for rapid response to critical security incidents, including procedures to protect staff and patrons during life-threatening situations

  • Incident Documentation — recording events and post-event follow-up
